These shields are based off of high strength polycarbonate riot shields with modified hardware and fittings making them suitable for stage combat and weapons sparring. Compared against their steel or wood counterparts, these shields are only half the cost and a third the weight. As the base material of the shield face is clear, paint can be applied to the back therefore protecting it from scratches and damage during use. Currently the Circus Armory stocks only black and grey colors using a high strength latex paint that resists cracking and flaking during use, however other custom colors are available upon request. Shields can also be purchase clear allowing them to be used either as is or be given any custom paint job you might wish (e.g. your favorite shield carrying superhero, personal coat of arms, etc.) After extensive testing against both steel and aluminum weapons they have been proven to hold up well in these applications, however they are best paired with aluminum weapons where possible.
